Healthcare workforce development nonprofit adding board members and staff after exceeding launch goals for fundraising and charitable giving
Claude Moore Opportunities, a leading Virginia healthcare workforce nonprofit founded in 2024, today announced the addition of new board members, senior leadership, and staff following a successful launch in which it raised $1.1 million and distributed nearly $275,000 in funds to support healthcare workforce development around Virginia.
Within its first year of operation, Claude Moore Opportunities has launched a new veterans healthcare workforce initiative, created and led implementation of a regional roadmap for healthcare job creation, and donated more than $100,000 in healthcare training equipment and supplies to K-12 school systems and community colleges.

Joining the Board of Directors for Claude Moore Opportunities are:
Dr. Cynthia Romero of Hampton Roads— Dr. Romero served as Virginia Health Commissioner from 2013-2014 and currently serves as Director of the M. Foscue Brock Institute for Community and Global Health at Eastern Virginia Medical School. As Virginia Health Commissioner, she led an agency with an annual budget of $626 million, 4,500 employees, and 119 health departments across 35 health districts. Prior to her appointment as Virginia’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Romero served as President of the Medical Society of Virginia and was Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Quality and Medical Affairs for Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Dr. Romero was in private practice for 16 years at Romero Family Practice with her mother as her partner and her father as her office manager. Dr. Romero received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology and Economics from the University of Virginia and her Doctor of Medicine from EVMS.
Tami Bredow of Loudoun County—Tami is a well-known leader in emergency services and philanthropy in Northern Virginia. She currently serves as a Compliance/Data Management Specialist with Rappahannock County Fire/Rescue and previously served as an EMT-Paramedic at Inova Loudoun Hospital and has held multiple leadership roles with the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, including Chief, Captain, and Director, where she played a vital role in strategic planning, training, fundraising, and quality assurance. Beyond her professional roles, Tami is deeply involved in philanthropy. She is a board member of 100WomenStrong and a Philanthropy Partner with the Inova Schar Cancer Center. Her dedication to service has earned her numerous accolades, including the 2016 Loudoun Chamber Valor Award for lifesaving achievements.
Claude Moore Opportunities has also promoted Laura T. Linn of Reston, Virginia to Executive Director of Operations. Laura previously served as Director of Development and Community Relations for Claude Moore Opportunities. Laura will oversee day-to-day operations and manage strategic initiatives for the organization.

Philippa S. Moore, Chief Advancement Officer—Philippa S. Moore of Washington, DC is a seasoned fundraising and advancement executive with extensive experience in philanthropy, donor relations, and institutional development. She has led multi-million-dollar fundraising campaigns, developed donor engagement strategies, and managed philanthropic initiatives across higher education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. She previously served as Associate Vice President of Philanthropy at VHC Health Foundation and held leadership roles at George Mason University, The George Washington University School of Nursing, and Howard University Medical Alumni Association.
Emily J. Schulte, Program Manager— Emily Schulte of Fairfax, Virginia is a dedicated program operations and communications professional with over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector. She has a strong background in managing large-scale fellowship programs, overseeing selection and placement processes, and coordinating stakeholder communications to ensure seamless program execution. Prior to her current role, Emily served as Senior Program Operations Manager and Interim Project Director at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She has led high-profile events, managed federal grant reporting, and implemented process improvements to enhance program efficiency.
Caryn A. Krupczak, Fundraising and Program Assistant— Caryn A. Krupczak of McLean, Virginia is a dedicated nonprofit professional with experience in event planning, donor engagement, and program coordination. Passionate about making a meaningful impact, Caryn has successfully supported fundraising initiatives, corporate partnerships, and community outreach efforts to drive mission-driven success. Prior to this role, Caryn worked as an educator, fostering strong relationships and developing programs that enhanced student engagement. Transitioning into the nonprofit sector, Caryn leveraged skills in organization, communication, and problem-solving to contribute to high impact fundraising campaigns, securing vital resources for community programs.
